[P1] clicking sound on iBook

Thanks, date reset.
I used DW and optimized the directory.That didn't help.
A friend suggested the noise might be coming from the speakers. He's 
right, but I don't know why.
When I hear the noise if I touch any of the keys which control the 
sound, the noise stops, for a very short time.
It doesn't matter if I up the volume, turn it down, or off. The noise 
stops for about 30 seconds, then comes back.
