For filtering at mymachine I simply use the filtering built into my email 
programs. 

Basically, anything from someone who is in my address book automatically 
is sent to a 'good mail folder.' Mail with a Spam Assassin rating (it 
works at the ISP level, get your ISP to use it, just demand it or switch 
ISPs) above a certain number is sent to a deleted mail folder. All others 
are sent to my general in box which I can look through to see if anything 
good is there.

There is no magic bullet for spam, yet.
