Faulty ram slot

It is WAY more likely that you're not pushing the RAM in fully so that 
it's properly seated than it is that you have a bad RAM slot.

Also, instead of scavenging RAM from other models that may not work, 
why not visit dealram.com, find a price you like, and buy the exact 
right RAM for your machine? Seems to me that this route pays for itself 
in time and frustration savings.
