USB powered external speakers

Greetings:

Does anyone have any experience with external speakers that draw power 
from the USB port
(rather than an AC "wall-wart")?   There is a separate stereo mini-jack 
that plugs into to the headphone/speaker
out port.  These are different from Apple Pro Speakers that are USB 
only  and HK Sound Sticks / iSub  that use USB & AC

For a clamshell 366 SE ibook. Thanks
