I bought a 450 Mhz DP G4 machine around three years ago for $1200, and although I have gotten my use out of it, its now too slow to run most modern apps and OSX adequately.. YMMV, but I would keep in mind that you will probably end up having to get an upgrade card for it and figure that into the price when comparing it to a new machine.. Considering that the current owner probably paid over $2k for it, they rarely are willing to accept what the thing is really worth..IMO ~ $500, or maybe a bit more if it has a Super Drive.. Apple is still selling G4s - they cost around $1200. But with the 64 bit G5 soon to be available for around $1700, all of the older family of hardware is suddenly worth significantly less. Unless you have some strong reason to run OS9 natively the new machines are a better bet.. :o -Chris On Monday, August 18, 2003, at 07:00 PM, Jeanne Douglas wrote: > At 8:59 PM -0500 8/18/03, Mike Urseth sent into the aether: >> What's the best place to find used Mac prices? >> >> I have a chance to pick up a barely used G4 400mhz dual processor. >> >> Thoughts? > > Ebay. > > Small Dog Electronics (though they carry more refurbs than used > machines): smalldog.com > > macresq.com > > Jeanne Douglas > -- > ---- > ********************************************************* > ANAHEIM ANGELS > 2002 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS > > ---------- > iBookList, a listserv for users and fans of Apple's iBook. > FAQ at <http://www.themacintoshguy.com/lists/iBookListFAQ.shtml> > > To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <ibook-off at lists.themacintoshguy.com> > To switch to the DIGEST mode, E-mail to > <ibook-digest at lists.themacintoshguy.com> > Need help from a real person?
