That would be somewhere around the 1400 mark. They all had 800*600 colour screens, (The 'c' suffix denoted active matrix, the 'cs' was dual scan) they had an expansion bay which could accommodate a CD rom drive. My sister has one (hand-me-down from me), they are surprisingly robust. I rebuilt the battery at some point, which is quite easy to do (unlike the modern LiIon type cells). It now goes for about 3 hours between charges. If you want to spend a little more, look for a 3400, they had the capability to add USB and firewire (via the cardbus capable PC card slots). The 1400 had these slots too, but they were not cardbus capable, making Ethernet, modem, flashcard readers etc the only useful cards for it. One benefit the 1400 had, was that the processor card could be upgraded. They are still making (I think) cards for it up to G3 @ 466Mhz!! 1400 had a ram ceiling of 64MB though... (3400 had 144MB Max) Good luck with it, Wiebe On 21/8/03 11:00 AM, "TimeFreezeG3 at aol.com" <TimeFreezeG3 at aol.com> wrote: > My lil' 'bro wants a cheap powerbook, one with a cdrom and color > screen....what is the cheapest lowest model of the old powerbooks that has > these two? > > Collin > > ---------- > iBookList, a listserv for users and fans of Apple's iBook. > FAQ at <http://www.themacintoshguy.com/lists/iBookListFAQ.shtml> > > To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <ibook-off at lists.themacintoshguy.com> > To switch to the DIGEST mode, E-mail to > <ibook-digest at lists.themacintoshguy.com> > Need help from a real person?
