I have an iBook 466 SE that is about 3 years old. I never turn it off, and only let it sleep. I would advise you to do the same, if you like it to be ready at once when you wake up in the morning with all programs running like the day before. :-) I boot it when updates that demand it come along. I treat my (work-) Compaq Evo laptop the same way, but it takes almost as long to wake from sleep as to boot it when I need it, so the difference there is minor. Apparently it didn't blow up either during the past two years I've had that one, but I think your way of treating your former PC is very normal in the PC-world. Welcome to iBook-land, btw!
