mystery cables

I was looking through some stuff that had come with my ibook (G3, 
600MHZ) and found two cables/adapters that I don't know what to do with.

1.  short (6 inch) usb <-> video (15 pin)

2.  power cable of some sort - standard male AC plug on one end - a 
female plug that accepts some sort of two-cylindrical-prong plug

Do you know what these are for?  Obviously, nothing I've needed yet :-)
