If you have the Apple Sound Balls which ship with an iMac or can be 
bought separately, you can connect them to your Powerbook and iBook via 
the Firewire port for electricity and the plug then goes into your 
headphone port. I am listening to them now, Willie Nelson!, and amazed 
at how good such a small speaker can sound...somewhat helped by the 
loss of hearing of the high freqs.
