Appletalk /OS X/PPP ?

You know, I used to dial into my work using ARA and OS 9 all the time. 
I could log on to my computer at work, printers, servers etc. Now with 
OS X I can't. I can still log into their modems and network to the 
internet but not any appletalk stuff. Does anybody know how this might 
be accomplished with X?
