Ibook software to create 3D model of house

Hello again ..

I have this idea that I want to try to create a 3d model of our house here
in Suva .. And I was thinking back to the times when kids where building all
kinds of architecture for games like DOOM and quake (on PCs) ... I never got
into trying that, but if they can do it .. I should be able to :)

By now there is maybe even better, non-game related editing software out
there (on the other hand, the idea of creating this place, and then run
around in it to kill monsters is kinda fun)

Has anyone ever done that ?
