Privileges, volumes and folders

Dear fellows,

I am fiddling a bit and carefully with some privileges of my iBook's
folders.
Can anyone help me with what the huge list of abbreviations means where you
can choose for example from "admin" to "daemon", from "staff" to "wheel"?
