Solid state boot disk

Hello,

I'm sure this question has been beat to death, but I'm new here and did try
to find something in the archives so:

Has anyone successfully created a flash disk or other solid state boot disk
that will run on the iBook. I want to use my iBook as a on-board data
acquisition system for fuel injection calibration and dyno tuning runs on
my motorcycles and don't want to crash the disk. I have found some
references to Flash  Boot Disks on Power Books but nothing on iBooks. Any
help or leads would be appreciated. TIA
