DVD burners and G3 chips

Congratulation. Be warned however...

I recently looked into buying one of these to transfer some commercial
videos to DVD, since the result looks so much better than VHS. I did all the
research on the various models, made my choice (a LaCie I believe), called
their tech support to make sure it would perform correctly with my iBook,
and was disappointed to learn that, with the G-3 processor, burning a 7 or 8
minute video would take about 15 or 16 hours! So much for that idea.

Funny thing is, up to that moment, I had never been the least bit
disappointed with the quality and capabilities of my iBook and I use it for
business 8 to 10 hours a day. Guess I see now why the future of the G3 is
probably going to be somewhat short.
