Your DVD drive is RPC-2, which means the region is controlled by the firmware in the drive itself. As we know, region coding is an illegal system implemented by the Content Cartels in order to fix prices and control releases and generally fatten their wallets enough to beat baby seals to death so they can sell the blubber for more profit. Depending on your drive model, you might be able to overcome the firmware by updating it with a region free firmware (modified from the original manufacturer's firmware). You'll need to flash your drive in OS9 if you can find an update for your particular model. I have updated my Toshiba SD-R2102 to a region free firmware since I own both Region 1 and Region 2 disks (legally I might add). My standalone player has also been modified to play all regions. WARNING: flashing your drive's firmware will most definitely invalidate your warranty (unless you flash it back with the orginal firmware before sending your computer in for repairs). Flashing your drive's firmware also has the potential to go wrong if your machine crashes mid-update or the wind changes, etc, but it normally goes off without a hitch.
