Wiebe,
I don't have a solution for the scratches, but I can suggest an alternative.
You could cover the iBook lid. Go the macskinz.com and check out the
designs. I just got mine today and it's terrific. The usual disclaimers
apply, I do not work for them, yadda, yadda, yadda...
