Sleep crash

Every couple of days I'll close the lid on my original blueberry iBook 
(10.24, 288MB) to go somewhere and when I open it  again -- nothing. 
The screen is dark, the iBook won't wake up (and I think the green 
light stops throbbing). I have to push the power button once or twice, 
then hold it down to get the computer to start up again. No message 
about being incorrectly shut down or anything. Ideas? Fixes?
