I have never tried any Toshiba drives, so I can't comment on that, but I have a 5400rpm IBM Travelstar (40GNX) in my iBook, and I have had no trouble whatsoever. I did notice that my left wrist rest gets a tad warmer (that's warmer, not hotter) than it did with the stock (4200rpm Travelstar (30GN)).
