Any 2.5" notebook drive that is smaller than 10mm high will fit - ie, any 9.5mm "superslim" model. I put an IBM Travelstar 40GNX in my 600Mhz iBook with no problems. You can see some pictures of the surgery here: http://jo-ham.com/display.php?year=2003&month=3&day=22 Google for "ibk_dusb.pdf" for Apple's service manual for the iBook. It has excellent instructions and has screw templates so you can keep track of the ones you've removed. You'll have to remove about 36 screws of varying size to get to the hard drive, including three Torx T8 size screws on the bottom of the case, and four Torx T8 grommets that fit on the side of the hard drive, allowing it to rest in the shock mount - see the pics on my site. It's well worth doing the upgrade. I now have twice the space, four times the drive cache and a much quieter HD. Battery life has not been affected as far as I can tell.
