Jack, I presume you meant "make" instead of the first "Mac"? Local Windows techs charge $50 an hour (a couple have initial $75 troubleshooting fees) to repair PCs which are infected with a virus. A couple/three guys in our group who don't bother with regular Norton updates have had to take their machines into the shop repeatedly. One finally gave up and bought a new machine. Not counting the frustration they feel having their machines unusable and the downtime while their computers are in the shop, they have to shell out a lot of bucks whereas us Mac folk just keep clicking away. Speaking of the costs of viruses, I hear those estimates of viruses costing "us" $6 billion, 9 billion, 20 billion, etc. on CNN every time a virus/worm/Trojan bites a large number. Where do they ever get those figures? Except for server slowdowns and occasional outages due to excessive mail generated by viruses, I don't see the effects here at home due to any infections. It certainly doesn't cost me any money. -- 3333333 de Fred
