If the hard drive is a substantial source of built-up heat, I guess 
it's possible that 10.3 could be employing a slightly-better virtual 
memory scheme, which would reduce the need for disc access. But I doubt 
it.

Yet another reason to max out your RAM, I guess, as if there was need 
for another...
