I had a technician kick the surge protector attached to my iBook on a 
remote and that jolt tore the intertwined sheathing that is the ground 
layer from the computer end plug in just one clumsy mistake.  
Previously, that power supply had always been carefully removed and 
carefully replaced in my backpack. And I seriously mean carefully.  I 
don't think my newer laptop would even take that sort of out and about 
abuse.
