So .. How do I get into programming ??

Sorry for being a bit OT .. But I guess I can find some good ideas here ..

So .. I learnt "basic" and "pascal" (on a mac) like 20 years ago ... And I
know html ... 

Now I am curious about doing a bot more damage .. Like automating some
processes ... Maybe giving it a nice GUI ... So .. What am I looking for .
What kind of books to read, what basics to learn, what websites .. Cocoa ?
Aqua ? Carbon ? Applescript ? Those things mean nothing to me yet .. But I
wanna learn.
