In 9.2.2 go to the Apple menu and find control panels, then look for 
Remote Access. Once that is open, go to the help menu for Remote Access 
and follow the directions, you may need to contact the ISP for some of 
this info.

Yes, the fact that it was configured for the UK and you are in the 
states without having made any changes makes a really HUGE difference. 
The modem still thinks it is in the UK and is trying vainly to find the 
ISP in the TCP/IP panel. Obviously that is not happening, thank 
goodness, because you would not be happy with the phone bill you got if 
you connected.
