[iBook] best way to do a clean install on ibook dual usb 500 mhz

I have a ibook dual usb 500mhz  and I am going to have to a clean
install.... have not been able to have my windoes file sharing stay "ON"  so
after much checking..etc i will do this.

Suggestions/ Ideas?  I have an external hard drive... so i will use carbon
copy..to back it all up...but what is suggested... as the optimum way.
