You will need a phono preamp somewhere in the audio chain to (1)
boost the phono output to line level (which the iMic needs) and (2)
compensate for the RIAA equalization curve on vinyl records. Note
that some modern turntables have a phono preamp built in, and most
home receivers, preamps and integrated amps had them until around
1990 or so.
