Panther to OS9.2 networking on iBook

Hi All,

 I have been having a hellish time sharing files between my Ibook 600
running Panther and a 266 iMac running OS 9.2. The iBook is on Airport while
the imac is on the LAN. When I try to copy files from the iBook to the iMac
the spinning ball results and practically freezes the machine so I have to
force a restart.  I have no problems sharing with the PCs in the network
just with the iMac which is the machines that I send many files to. What's a
good way to solve this? Never had these troubles with Jaguar.
