[P1] Logic board, estimates of probability of success of repair

My 12" G3 700 iBook has been trouble free since I bought it last 
summer. Lucky I guess.
Still, I need to buy Applecare before it's too late.
What I have seen on eBay lately has been priced close to what you 
expect to pay Apple.
