Yes, it will shorten the battery life -- just as regular use would, because the battery has a finite number of charge and discharge cycles, but I wouldn't be all that concerned about it. My original iBook battery lasted three or four years, and I almost always put into sleep mode instead of shutting down. BRIAN/bpearce at cloud9.net
