[P1] Reading word documents

Many of my students bring disks to school with files from their PCs; 
the only ones that Appleworks won't open are also rejected by Word.  
The trick is in selecting Appleworks to open them.  I sometimes have to 
play around with the defaults--changing "recommended apps" to "show all 
applications" and then choosing Appleworks, for instance.
