Safari and spyware?

Has anyone been hit with spyware while using Safari?

I had a porn site pop up on my machine. When I closed the window there 
was a small, square window open behind it with a portion of a page that 
I had earlier been viewing. No control boxes on this little window and 
I got rid of it by quitting Safari.

Any thoughts?
