I would consider pulling the memory out and, maybe, see if the iBook 
boots up okay in Mac OS 9.2.2.  I am no expert but I can only speak 
from my limited experience having two iBooks myself but, I believe that 
you may wish to expand your memory to 640Mb as OS X loves the expanded 
space.
