I recommend DiskWarrior highly. I run it at least once every week or
two.

Run All Tasks in MacJanitor at least once or twice a week if you do not
leave your computer on over-night.

I strongly receommend Cocktail or something similar like Tinker Tool
System, they are not expensive. It is NOT the same as MacJanitor. When
you get one then delete all caches and reboot system. Something else
you can do with no harm is delete all DS files.

To zap the pram, shut down computer. Wait a minute. Start up while
holding down Command/Apple key-Option-P-R. Wait for start-up gong to
sound 4 or 5 times. Then release keys. Computer then starts up. A few
setting may have returned to their defaults, such as window settings
etc. Just reset them as you notice them.

I suggest you get a good basic OS X book, preferably keyed to your OS X
version, for example Panther book or Jaguar book etc.
