This is a weird possibility. I replaced my old Tangerine iBook (OS  
9.2.2) with my present iBook 14' because many of my shift keys  
stopped working and I needed my capital letters.
I gave it away to a friend who just needed a simple word processor  
and didn't really care. Before I gave it to him, I removed all of my  
personal stuff and lots of third party apps.
Wouldn't you know, it has worked flawlessly for him.....capital  
letters and all....ever since.
I don't mind. I love OS X!
