[iBook] Second Hand Mac woes

Alex,
I think you can restart the machine while holding the OPTION key down.  
I think that that will give you a list of systems that you can boot 
from...you'll see a hard drive with the "OS9" logo on it, if memory 
serves.  I know it works when you have external firewire drives 
attached.
