[iBook] Battery replacement

Hello all. I have a Icebook 600. About half a year ago I noticed that 
the battery time indicator was badly off, the book would suddenly go to 
sleep with more than an hour remaining, and without a low battery 
warning. Since the battery is several years old I am not too surprised. 
Anyway, I need a new battery and I am hoping for a little advice. What 
are the better makers of external batteries, and how long can I 
reasonably expect a charge to last, doing only word processing? How 
much should I expect to spend? When I asked at the local Mac reseller, 
where I bought my iBook, the prices they gave me for external batteries 
were shocking, and they said they could not get actual replacement 
batteries that fit the slot at all.
