[iBook] Monitor fading away

Hello, I have a graphite Clamshell. The screen has always been crisp and
clear. Suddenly it has become very faint, it's like it's fading away. No
more crispness. I put the brightness cursor to its maximum but the screen
stays faint and it's even becoming difficult to work with the little
bastard. I don,t know much about video cards or video stuff. Anyone has a
hint?
