[iBook] USB 1.1 or 2.0 (was external drive: USB vs. firewire)

Hi Ronda,

You have USB 1.1 so you will need to get a Firewire external unless
you want to cook a turkey while files transfer. The Firewire is often
$20 or $30 more but it is money well spent. Actually I didn't know if
you needed a hard drive or a CD burner. The Burner is the biggest
problem with USB 1.1; A hard drive would not be as bad but you are
still better off with Firewire. Firewire will also allow for OS
installs as a backup that is bootable.

LaCie is pricey; try OWC:

Their Neptune drives are pretty low cost: $106 for 80g Firewire w/cable

The Elite Drives are $130 for 80g
