[iBook] Battery reverts to 2001

I just turned it off for 2 + minutes..and the clock message did not come 
back on
I usually have the ibook on... and i alternate with battery alone usage..on 
plane.. on couch..etc.

Yes your battery cannot "hold" the clock time between startups.
Test by shutting down for one or two minutes, does the clock still
revert to 2001?
I asume you use the iBook predominantly with the extenal power supply?
