Tried OF mode, same black screen. something is toasted. I may take it to the local genius bar and see what they think it is, I seriously doubt they will do anything about it though considering it is so old. I can get to the hard drive via the network and have backed up my wife's user folder. I may tear it apart and see if the cable seems damaged.
