Hi Why don't you do it the easy way and get a dvd recorder then burn  
the tv that you want to disc and then you can put it on the mac as  
easy as running a cd also you can use the imovie software and import  
the bits you want from the dvd file.

Thats how i do it as the dvd recorder was only £140. and very easy to  
set up. (when i got it last year)
The same dvd recorder is now only £50. so it is about the same price  
if not a little bit more than all the right cables will cost.
