[iMac] strange screen behavior + loud fan

I got my iMac in November.

When I first ran it I thought I had a noisy one but, after a couple of 
sleep cycles it quieted down considerably. Now it really is 'whisper 
quiet'

I sleep mine every time I leave my desk for more than a couple of 
minutes. I just touch the power button as I stand up. I never shut it 
down or just leave it running.

I find if I don't do this it tends to run louder.

Sleeping it while away keeps it quieter while I'm using it.

Works for me.
