I have been experiencing what behaves like memory leaks and failure of the OS to reclaim memory with consequent freezing of processes (apps, dock, whatever) and the need to restart. Restart cures the problem, until the next time. I have an Apple Certified refurbished 20" iMac with 2 GB of RAM and a lightly populated 500 GB HD (whoever owned the iMac before I got it really tricked it out to the max!). I often have 10 applications open at any one time. But, this did not happen under similar circumstances with my G4 Quicksilver running 10.4.7, so I am inclined to believe that memory management might not have fully matured in OS X for the Intel Macs. Anybody have similar experiences? Ideas? Thanks, Steve
