[iMac] Login screen

Hi All

Has anyone of you ever had the pleasure :-( that when you startup  
your computer, the login screen comes up for one second and then  
disappears?

I had this happened to me last night and couldn't access my computer.

I'm back on now but does anyone know what happened here?
