new location folder…another step

Hello,
(I'll try to keep this simple.)
Part I
My G4 has iTunes stored on a storage partition (site A).....
I've begun ripping new songs to a new location (site B) because storage
space is limited......
I've purchased a new external HD (site C) for all of the music,
including the new material I am now burning straight to (site C).
With all of the music now in one folder, can it all be imported without
losing tag information?

Part II
My friend had a similar situation, by when he upgraded to OS X, he lost
all of his tags and info, plus actual mp3 files, plus the folder/artist
organization had changed.....ex: albums that were ripped into 'Various
artists' as one album, now have become divided into individual artist
folders, EACH with one song, within that album title folder.
How, if possible, can this be avoided when I upgrade my G4 to OS X?
