It's not clear to me that it does anything, but if selected, it makes its adjustments to the entire iTunes library. The problem that still has not been addressed, I believe, is that if you create a playlist of old and new recordings, some will, perforce, be at a lower playback level. I've tried to beat this problem by arbitrarily choosing one track as a 'baseline' and adjusting everything else around it. It works with uneven results. My search for a magic pill that sets all tracks in a playlist at the same volume appears thus far to be futile.
