Shuffle Play

I am getting disencharted with with shuffle play. With iTune 3, I 
noticed that I was rehearing a lot of the same music over and over.

This improved substantially with iTune 4 but alas the same malady seems 
to have returned!

Please note that less than 20 or so tracks are rated out of close to a 
total of over 1900.

Out of the recently played are some 360 tracks many of them several 
times.

Is this the best that iTune can do?
