CD quality

Hello,

I opened a cd (burned by my cousin on a PC from audio tapes) and 
played in iTunes.

The sound was quite good.

When I tried to burn a cd from the playlist the quality was awful. 
Dropped sound, clicks, pops, static etc.

Where should I be looking to solve this problem?
