Rick, If you do get a second drive, there really should not be an issue. The only problem I can see is that you won't be able to run the "Consolidate Library" command, if you need to for any reason. I use this command quite often because my Library is on an external and I sometimes add music when it is not connected. When the external is connected again, I run the command and then delete the files from the local drive. iTunes runs fine with files in both locations, but I try to keep music off my laptops HD. If you decide to get a large external to handle everything, you should use the Consolidate Library command. First you will want to set your iTunes Library location (in Preferences) to a folder on the new drive. Then run the command to consolidate and then you can delete the old library files. This way you will save all your playlists. Since the possibility of losing playlists exists, I would suggest downloading the "Restore Library 2 Step" set of Applescripts from Doug's website. I will let you find the link. There are two scripts, the first of which will write the names of all playlists each song is in into the comments field of the MP3/AAC tag. The second script use the info in the comment to rebuild your playlists. I recommend these scripts to all iTunes for Mac users. Very good insurance policy. > Is it possible to have an iTunes library made up of files from 2 > different hard drives? > > My mp3 drive is filled up, and I'm trying to decide on getting either a > bigger drive, or another smaller one to supplement the one that's out > of space. > > Thanks in advance, > Rick
