[iTunes] trouble dismounting

every once in awhile, when I go to dismount my iPod from iTunes,
I get an error message saying that it can't be disconnected
because it's sharing a file with another application, or words
to roughly that effect. If I close iTunes and then reopen it
again, I can disconnect with no problem. Anyone have any ideas
what's causing this and how to prevent it from happening?
